Aion has been a pretty good game for Vengance so far. As with most legions, we have had a lot of people quit the game. This has usually been due to the semi-steep leveling climb, boredom at 50, or people simply burn out. For some, Aion just wasn't right for them. On positive side, we've picked up some very high quality gamers in Aion. That alone makes this game worth while.
As of now, Vengeance is rank 12 on the Elyos side. We are making steady gains on some of the legions above us (especially those that already burned out), and we will pass eventually. Sometimes there is a legion that gets formed with a lot of people who have more playtime than we do, and they may pass us in the rankings eventually. But to be honest, the rankings have never meant too much to me personally. But it is one of the few things in game that can measure a legion, and a lot of times people mention that when they apply to join us. So, I'm happy with our standings, and I expect us to continue making progress throughout the game.
One of the unfortunate things about Aion is how gear dependant the game is. I understand that in this type of game gaining gear needs to be hard to do, and it needs to be important to the advancement of your character. Otherwise PvP would be the only endgame content. But I would love to see a game where gaining PvP objectives is what becomes important to your advancement in endgame. Please, someone, make this game for me!!! (And don't tell me about WoW... I've heard of that game before!)
So, until WoW 2 gets released, Vengeance will be running strong Aion.

Yup, you heard right. Vengeance is going to be playing in Aion on the Elyos side. Aion is somewhat of a homecoming for Vengeance, as our first game under this guild tag was Rising Force Online. Aion is similar to RFO in many ways, and a lot of the old RFO guild will be playing in Aion a well.
We're really looking forward to this game since the Age of Conan bugfest went into a freefall only a few months after release. Then Warhammer's endgame made most of us dread logging in It was fun while leveling, the endgame was the most boring I've seen in an online game. Since that time we've been playing different games across all different gaming platforms.
I'm hoping Aion will capture some of the magic that RFO had in it's PvP grind. They seem to have the right balance of the need for PvP, along with the best experience being found in the PvP areas. That combination alone should make for some interesting grinding.
Vengeance will be starting Aion with a healthy 20 to 25 people to start. We will selectively recruit players who are PvP oriented once the game goes live. I expect we'll cap at around 40 to 50 active members. Any PvP oriented gamers are welcome to apply by clicking the "Apply to Vengeance" at the top of the screen.
Here's a short PvP vid from last week's beta.

Although Vengeance had a great amount of success in Age of Conan, the game itself is in a free fall that I don't think it will recover from. One measure of Vengeance' success is that we were one of the very few guilds in game to capture and hold a Battlekeep, which is currently Tier 3. While this was not particularly hard for our guild to do, we were able to do it while so many other guilds weren't even strong enough to try. Many guilds never even got a T3 Keep in their guild city to be given the rights to capture a Battlekeep. Many more guilds did have a T3 keep, but were unable to gain control of a Battlekeep as we did. Plus, our open world PvP prowess in Kheshatta was well known, and we were able to win the majority of our battles no matter the odds against us. Even though it turned out that Age of Conan's end game could not sustain a guild for long, it was a lot of fun while it lasted. Currently Vengeance no longer supports Age of Conan, and the guild has been disbanded in game. Now we move on to Warhammer Online. WAR is a game that revolves around PvP. The entire essence of the game is Realm vs. Realm in the spirit of the great Dark Ages of Camelot. WAR focuses on end game PvP content, sieging, and guild and character building. I had more fun in a level 20 siege in WAR than any siege I was a part of in Age of Conan. With about 60 to 70 people involved, it was also larger than most AoC sieges I went to, more fun, lots of explosions, and with no lag. Plus, they have end game content built in. There are PvP rewards through corpse looting, XP, guild XP, and influence. Since influence levels very slowly, there will be plenty of oppenents out trying to build up there's. And I will certainly be trying to build up my own influence as well as XP for the guild. Plus, there won't be any 1-shot wonders like there were in Age of Conan. I'm looking forward to Warhammer Online more than any other game that I've ever played. See you all on the 15th! |

Back when Vengeance first formed in RF Online, there was a lot of smack talking on the forums. (As in every game) I never really paid much attention to it, but I did see that there were a lot of guilds claiming to be the most powerful, or the "best". But these were teams that Vengeance was beating soundly at every engagement. Even when we were outnumbered or outleveled. So, I started to record all our fights. Then, every time someone smack talked about the fight, or even outright lied about what happened, I would just link the video to my youtube account. www.youtube.com/thetrance That really shut down the bragging on the forums. There's a video of Trance doing some Muay Thai sparring as well. Although Vengeance videos are public, I don't generally advertise them. They are more for people to have some entertainment while they are stuck at work. One time I regret not recording is the duel I had against a guy who likes to brag on the forums about his dueling ability.. I didn't even know who he was until after I beat him. Divine Messengers Primal Instinct Inquisition and Addiction Xen of Onslaught, Dark Evolution, and Warrior Poet - 2 vs 6 Bloodline and Pheonix Order Immortal and Devils of Kimone Devils of Kimone Death Row Loincloth Legionairres plus some TOS/Necro action at the end Exodus Syndicate/Sublety Ganking 1 Ganking 2 |
